Taxpayer Identification Number On Google Adsense?

Posted by Adsense Enquirer on November 10th, 2009 at 08:13am

I have an account set up with Google AdSense. They say they cannot send our money to us without our TIN/EIN. When I enter the Taxpayer number that is on the forms which we submit to the irs for sales tax every quarter, Google says that it is not correct. Our number is in the form of x-xxxxx-xxxx-x but Google says is should be in the form of xx-xxxxxxx. The company is a partnership so I can’t use a social security number. I have tried contacting Google, but they don’t respond. What am I doing wrong? Please help.

You are entering your state sales tax number – you pay sales tax to your state, not to the IRS. They are looking for a federal number for your partnership – apply for an EIN from the IRS. See http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/arti…

Google is correct. What you are providing is not the correct Employer Identification Number of your partnership. Check your records again.
