My Friend Told Me That Your Computer Will Get A Virus If You Have A Google Adsense Account; Is This True?

When my friend and I got together for our weekly business meeting tonight, I told him about how I recently created a google adsense account hoping to make extra money by pay per clicks, that is, earning ad revenue. I asked him what he thought about it and if he had any experiences with it or ever heard of it before and he told me that he had one of the worst experiences with it. He said that some of the ads placed on his site eventually became infected with viruses and eventually led to pornography sites. Supposedly a hacker who lives an hour away from him created a virus and it spread to his account, and anytime that he opened up his internet explorer, he’d get 10 pop up ads to the point where it was running so slow and he couldn’t do anything with his computer. Eventually his hard drive got affected. This was even happening after he canceled his account. My friend owns a PC and his browser is internet explorer. When I told him that I have a MAC platform and have a FireFox Mozilla browser, he said that there’s a lower risk for viruses. I’m still concerned, so I canceled my google adsense account, but I’m scared that my computer will be attacked by viruses pretty soon. I’m taking the time to back up any important files I have on jump drive. I freaked out when my internet was running a tad bit below par tonight. So I need to know if it’s actually true that your computer will get infected if you have google adsense? And what good or bad experiences came out of anyone else who has a google adsense account? Any input is fine. Thanks.
