Im planning to start a free forum hosting service which is based on Invision Boards 1.3 (invisionfree, ipbfree, etc.), of course, with google adsense in it.

Im wanting to create a website offering a free service. The only way Im planning on earning money is through people advertising on there eg adsense etc. Now, Im curious if this is a “business” as such? Would I have to register a business name? I note that in order to have a .com.au website you have to be a registered business! But would it really be a business?

Awhile back I had made a website as a school business project and put google adsense ads on it. We made little revenue at the start so one of my partners started clicking on the ads daily. This got us up to like 70$ but than I received an e-mail saying the account was banned. Ok, well fair enough. I wasn’t really bummed and I still got a high mark on the project so it was ok. The only problem now is that I have started a new website which get at least 20x the traffic the old one had but I’m only making revenue with Kontera ads which suck. With Kontera ads up 3 months on my site I have only made 8 dollars. Google won’t take me back ether.
My question is… what is the best ad service other than Google Adsense? I don’t think yahoo will work because I am a Canadian citizen and don’t have an American id or something. They ask for something that is unique to Americans and I don’t have it.

It seems to me that you are better off using Comcast since it’s less likely to have rules forbidding the use of online ads. If web services don’t have this restriction, it would not matter much which one to use. Web crawlers like Google Search will crawl through everything so page exposure will not be much different from different sites.
What matters will be the contents of your page and how many people will be able to and are willing find it.

OK, this is the deal. I have to move my website’s content because my current hosting supports space for up to 20 pages only. This is the second time I have to change my hosting, my former hosting rejected AdSense’s html codes. I’m searching and searching but all I get is so-called free webhosting–they tell you it’s free and then you can’t use features as basic as editing text and grafics instead of html editing, storing files or just enough space for your pages. Do you know better sites providing actually free hosting?
