7 Adsense Affiliate Tips: Avoid These Mistakes

July 8th, 2009 at 09:38pm Under adsense start

People are bragging about how much money they are making from the Google AdSense affiliate program… But, you’ve been at it for awhile and you still haven’t seen a big commission check in the mail yet…

With these seven AdSense affiliate tips, you can increase your AdSense income… Up until now, no one has ever pointed out what may be preventing you from reaching your earnings objectives.  Could it be that you’ve been given the wrong information?

We’ll look at seven mistakes that AdSense publishers make and how they should be handled.  And don’t worry; the suggestions for improvement are within the AdSense terms of service so you won’t get banned from using them.  After you are done reading about these mistakes, you should be able to identify if you need to make the necessary changes to your site.

So then, here are the seven mistakes AdSense affiliates make and tips to correct them…

(1) Creating Sites for the Purpose of Showing AdSense Ads

M.F.A. or “Made for AdSense,” is the other term which people use to describe a site which was built for the purpose of earning AdSense affiliate commissions.  The primary purpose wasn’t to serve the people of a niche market online.  No.  The site was created for the owner to make easy money from people who click ads because there is nothing else of value on that site.  No content, no real products being sold…

Tip #1: If you have a thin affiliate site, then start thinking about the market you are targeting and fatten it with information most helpful to them.

(2) Placing Ads on Blinds Spots

When the web was young, the 468 x 60 pixel banner ads where on almost every site…usually at the top before the real content below.  They were effective back then, but Internet surfers have become so used to them being ads, that now a days they ignore anything in that location.  So, placing AdSense ads in this region doesn’t get as many click thrus.

Tip #2: The best places to place your ads would be within the written content; however testing will give you a scientific answer to exactly where your site will get the most clicks.

(3) Making AdSense Ads Look Like Ads

People tend to ignore anything that looks like an ad.  The AdSense Setup tab in your account allows you to change the colors of the words, borders and background of the ads you will place on your site.  If you choose colors that clash with the colors of your site, then it will draw negative attention to those ads.

Tip #3: For your ads, you should use colors which blend in with the color and content of your site.

(4) Not Knowing Where a Click Came From

People aren’t using what AdSense calls “Channels” to help publishers track click-thrus.  These channels are assigned by you and help you figure out if clicks are coming from a specific ad format, region of your web page or an entire site.  With this click thru data, overtime it will help you determine which placement works out the best or which needs improvement.

Tip #4: Take a closer look at the features available on your AdSense Setup tab and start creating and adding channels to your AdSense ad codes.

(5) Optimizing a Site with the Wrong Keywords

Money from the AdSense program comes from advertisers who use Google’s AdWords advertising system.  They bid on keywords for placement and one of the ways price is calculate is by how much competition there is for that search term.  The greater the competition in general, the higher will be the price.  Which means, AdSense affiliate sites that have content with those keywords will most like be paid higher for clicks.  If a site is on a less popular topic, then those keywords will return a smaller commission.

Tip: #5: To increase the pay a click delivers, make sure the content you have on your site is appropriately optimized for the higher paying keywords.  Many tools are available online to help you discover the profitable keywords or keyword phrases that should be on your site.

(6) Killing Potential Affiliate Sales

AdSense wasn’t meant to replace the income a website can generate with your main products or the other affiliate products you are promoting.  The only exception would be if your site focuses on providing pure information.  Having AdSense links will make it easier for any potential buyers to leave your site.  You may earn a few cents when the visitor leaves your site, but you may have made a few dollars if the visitor stayed and turned into a buyer.   Sometimes AdSense ads will out perform the product you are selling directly.

Tip #6: To find out if AdSense or your main product makes you more money, you have to do some testing and tracking.

(7) Not Collecting Opt-ins

Even before email marketing was born, a mailing list in the offline business world generated billions of sales for mail-order and direct marketing companies.  Successful businesses online regularly collect opt-in email addresses to stay in contact with their customers and send them promotional messages to generate additional backend sales and profits.  Many sites built to make money displaying AdSense ads don’t make the effort to also collect the email address of their potential customers.  Try not to make that mistake.

Tip #7: Put up an opt-in form on your site and offer your visitors a free report related to the topic of your site so you can collect their email addresses.

Summing Up

These are the seven AdSense affiliate mistakes that when identified and corrected, can improve your click thru rate and overall site income.  Once you’ve overcome the inertia to make these critical changes, soon you will be able to brag about the money you are making to people who doubted you could have a successful online business.

Adsense Tips – Adsense Help – Adsense Techniques

July 7th, 2009 at 03:33pm Under adsense secrets

It goes without saying that we all need more traffic to our websites. This can be achieved in numerous ways. I’d like to explore once specific traffic source a little deeper.
Although it maybe prudent to mention a few to start with, some will be obvious and some will be not so obvious. Natural search engine rankings, advertising, articles, blogs, newsletters, rss feeds, videos, joint ventures, press releases, social bookmarking, social networking and the most important ingredient that should run through the whole of these is quality.
One of the areas, blogs, has always been a grey area for me personally, until I discovered a few important facts. Perhaps I knew them, but when put into a certain context they meant more.
Allow me to explain further…
We all have been told that within our strategy we must link a blog to our website; in fact as many blogs as we can muster the energy to do. So yes I’m sure we’ve all gone out and made ten blogs. As a consequence of such effort we have seen very little traffic. So as a natural result we’ve returned our attention back to our websites, made them bigger and better and sat back and waited, checking our adsense revenue a few times a day.
Despondency sets in and we can’t see the wood for the trees. So what’s going on?
First we must remember that blogs get regarded has having more value than a ‘normal’ website. We know this to be true as we see them ranked above most websites. Yet our own blogs on typical blogging sites never seem to get anywhere in the rankings. There is an important distinction here to. A blog on a ‘blogging site’ will also rank higher than a blog on a normal – mywebsite.com website
Should you wish to test this theory out, put the same content on your website with a Page Rank of 4 and then put the same content on a blog with a zero page rank. The result sadly is that the blog could well rank above your own website.
That said… It would appear we are working ‘upside down’ on our efforts. If we put 2 hours of work on our blog, rather than our website per day, we may get the blog to a page rank of 5 quicker? In doing that, we achieve backlinks to our own site from a better page ranked site. Plus if we have adsense on the blog we are killing two birds with one stone.
I am only half way through fully testing this theory and it may require a further six months, but all the evidence suggests that this will work. If we have a website that sits nicely in a niche, then to have a blog or two back-linking, will only increase our websites inner page ranks and they will appear higher in the search engines.
As we add content to our website, tweak a little and add it to our blogs. The end result will be a page rank of 4 for our website and a page rank of 5 or 6 for our blog. When this happens, funnel the links back to your own site and it should nudge the page rank up one notch. The blog of course should be ’subject’ relevant to your own site.
Food for thought!

Adsense Advice

If you’ve watched the progress of Google Adsense over the past few years you will know its potential has decreased and subsequently the revenue decrease too. So why would that be?
Google have tweaked their algorithm, and as such it has reduced the remarkable payouts we may have seen and read about. Rather than try to identify the exact reasons, it is widely accepted that people who abused the system caused Google to adjust their methods to quash such abuse.
We may have seen MFA’s, websites specifically ‘Made for Google Adsense’. As such these sites DID make big money, but offered little or no content. Such attempts to ‘work’ the system would only have a short life span until the BIG G saw such a loophole and consequently shut it down. Although these sites still exist, they have been de-listed from the Google Search Engine. If you didn’t know already, type – site:www.awebsitename.com – into Google Search and it will show the pages that Google have listed in their engine.
Google has tried to steer each and every website owner towards adding quality content. Without quality content your site is only visited for seconds. It is this very aspect that Google uses to determine the quality of sites. If someone is only on your site for seconds it deems the quality as low; if they stay on for more than 30 seconds you’re beginning to get recognition.
So to earn a living from Adsense is much harder today, than it has ever been. If you are solely intent on relying on Google Adsense as your only income from the outset, it maybe a deemed as a mistake, unless you follow some sound business principles and get advice from an expert.
What a lot of individuals are doing is realizing that they have tremendous sites, and Google Adsense isn’t bringing in enough money to generate their weekly income. As a consequence they have looked at earning revenue from other sources. Affiliate income is an option for consideration.
Alternatively, rather than give up on Adsense try generating more traffic. If you get a steady flow of visitors to your site already you may want to consider one option that will serve two purposes. This option is to write a short article, nothing too in-depth that takes weeks, let’s say an article that’s heading starts – 101 Ways To… – such as 101 Ways to Treat Acne. The process make take 2 to 3 hours. Prepare this document as a ‘pdf’ file and make it downloadable from your site for free.
In doing this, collect an email address for those wanting this amazing list, and using this list to generate further income from, and within the ‘pdf’ put backlinks to your site. This method is called viral marketing. As visitors pass the file to others, or pass the download link, more people will use the links within the ‘pdf’ to get back to your site.
I hope this article gives you much needed inspiration to inject more enthusiasm into your Adsense activity.

Is There Any “Secrets” Left To Milk From Adsense?

June 23rd, 2009 at 09:33am Under adsense money

Adsense Money Tip 1
As far as possible use high paying keywords. Take a good look at this article; I am sure there are some Adsense ads running around it. These ads pay very high for the article directory owner as I purposely choose my words to type.

So how can you use find the right high paying words in your niche? First off, stick to your topic and do not include irrelevant content. Secondly and more importantly, log into your Adwords account (if you have) or Overture’s keyword tool and look for high paying keywords in your niche. Take care not to overdo it though! A subtle incorporating of the keywords will do. Repeating and re-repeating the same keywords will turn readers and Adsense off,

Adsense Money Tip 2
Getting good traffic. Not just any traffic, by saying good traffic I mean quality traffic and targeted traffic. So throw out your ideas of using auto surf programs to boost your visitors statistics. That is not to say that you should immediately start an Adwords campaign, this way of getting targeted visitors, called “Google Arbitrage”, is very expensive and unlikely to turn in a profit.

Adsense Money Tip 3
High quality fresh information. Your content has to been of certain standard and quality before anyone even bothers to read it. It also needs to be fresh and new and constantly updated. Think about it, why would anyone bother coming back to your website if they keep seeing the same content everytime? That explains why news sites are one of the most highly trafficked sites.

Adsense Money Tip 4
Vertical beats horizontal. That is not true definitively I realize but it has generally proven true. Surfers have grown “banner-blind” and an ad that is horizontal makes them switch off. Try it out, experiment with your positions of ads and stick with the one which gets the most clicks.
