Google is smart enough to realize that some people will try to look for the highest paying Adsense keywords — and made sure that people who do will not fully benefit from it.
There was a time when everyone wanted to do a website on “Mesothelioma” when it was reported that advertisers were paying $100+ per click for this keyword. Unfortunately for Adsense publishers chasing this holy grail, all they got was a few cents per click — definitely NOT the $100 per click they were expecting
Google has this thing called SMARTPRICING which basically discounts the value of clicks on your site. No one knows how this actually works. But it can affect the pricing of the ads on your site. If the advertiser paid for $0.50/click – but your site is smartpriced – then the cost may be discounted lower (e.g. $0.25). So you may try to develop a site based on high paying keywords but if smartpricing gets to you, then you may not get as much per click as what you are expecting from your keywords.
Here is Google’s explanation of smart pricing https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/a...

Google’s smart pricing feature automatically adjusts the cost of a keyword-targeted content click based on its effectiveness compared to a search click. So if our data shows that a click from a content page is less likely to turn into actionable business results — such as online sales, registrations, phone calls, or newsletter signups — we reduce the price you pay for that click.

So chasing after these so called high paying Adsense keywords is often a futile and useless effort if Google deems your site to be nothing but an attempt to chase after these keywords.

Yes, they do convert. Its just that most large companies take up these spots. They are more equipped, financially, to spending the high amounts. Its mainly about getting a company noticed. Many of these large companies are not just looking for conversions from these clicks. One option, is the cost for advertising can be used as a write off for companies to lower their tax bracket. Large companies can make use of these large write offs easier than most small companies or personal sites.

HONESTLY – Instead of hankering for Adsense Dollars there are many more sites that pay you a GOOD amount of money.
I think it’s a damn good way to make a Decent Income with your Website or Blog.
I am making money from my website to the tune of £5.00 every month and I received £10.00 , JUST for signing up
I am expecting a payment of £55.00 with 11 websites I have this month.

Yes they work you only get a percent of what they pay, but im not complaining. Just make sure your site is relevant to those keywords. Google checks up on all of its advertisers sites especially the ones that are brining in good money. If your site is doing well google will also recommend it to its bigger advertisers. I believe this helps keep the big money clicks coming.

Yes, some of the high paying keywords do work. But trying to compete for them is going to be very difficult because of the intense competition.
The best thing to do is try not to concentrate on the high paying keywords and focus on the lower paying ones that generate lots of traffic but have low levels of competition.
