Google Adsense is only useful for those with a very large busy site simply because people are now so accustomed to (and irritated by) the Google ads. maybe only 1 in 100 visitors will actually click on one. It is the clicking on the ad that earns the money.
Assuming you are an ordinary person – as opposed to a celebrity – you cannot really expect much traffic for your blog. Millions of people have now turned to blogging – many simply to see their name on the Internet. Surfers are unlikely to search for a blog by an ordinary person and therefore traffic will be restricted mainly to people you have actually told about your blog (no casual visitors).
Imagine I wrote a blog (and you had never “seen” me before on the web). Would you ever find my blog? You would have no reason to be searching for it because I am a total stranger.

Most people earn very little from them.
For one a very small % of people will click on the ads.
Many Firefox users now use an ad blocker, and the rest of people have gotten so used to ads they now ignore them.
For two Google is not perfect at relating ads to material, the ads work on key words.
Just yesterday I saw a site that was insulting a video game, and a company that sells stuff for that game had an ad on the site.
