Adsense And Blogger.com Ahh Need Help?

Im having a big problem putting my adsense ads in my blogger.com site… I know a decent amount of html but can figure out where i need to put my code so it will show up. I keep putting in places I think that it should show up but no matter what when i go to view my blog it doesnt show up.
can someone please help me with where to put this ad code so it will show up on my site. Thank you
